George Shinn, Institutional Sales & Research
George directs Granite on all matters regarding institutional research. His background is centered on the research and analysis of complex futures investment strategies, CTA due diligence, qualitative and quantitative program evaluations, and asset allocation philosophies. His experience includes both marketing and research for various firms in the alternative investments industry. George studied biases that can affect indices with Dr. James Park of Paradigm Global Advisors. During his tenure as Director of Operations for International Trader’s Research, he used this information to build the ITR P40 CTA index. He has also worked extensively with emerging CTAs, helping them develop their marketing strategies. In 2003, he assisted an FCM with the creation of an Emerging CTA Fund.
George’s experience includes:
• Helped coordinate the marketing efforts for a large fund of funds based in Manhattan, New York.
• Served as Director of Operations for one of the top CTA database service providers.
• Developed the ITR Premier 40 CTA Index.
• Served as Sr. Research Associate for Man Financial’s U.S. Managed Accounts Division.
• Served as a Managing Principal of a CTA/CPO that placed allocations with CTAs for fund of funds.
• Established a network of distributors and key industry contacts in jurisdictions throughout Asia.
• Contributed futures-related content and commentary for articles in Mutual Funds Magazine, Bloomberg Italy, Financial Times, Institutional Investor, and Worth magazine.
• Authored a special article on the Kospi futures contract for Stocks, Futures, and Options magazine.
